Older Aged
SDCSP are committed to working with older adults and have launched our new activities Programme entitled "Living the Life" in Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan Leisure Centres. This has been done in partnership with South Dublin Leiusre Services Ltd. Particapants do not need to be a member of any recognised group to take part.
The aim of the program is to offer older adults the opportunity to meet up and have a cuppa whilist taking part in activities which include bowling, Kurling, boccia , frisbee and many more. The cost is €3 which includes a voucher for a tea/coffee.
Contact the Sports Partnership for more details.

Go For Life
Go for Life is the national programme for sport and physical activity for older people. The aim of Go for Life is to involve more older adults in all aspects of sport and physical activity more often. The programme is run by Age & Opportunity, an initiative funded by the Irish Sports Council, see www.olderinireland.ie. The Go for Life team works in partnership with the HSE and the Local Sports Partnerships.
The thrust of the programme is to empower and enable older people by reaching out to active retirement associations, senior citizens groups, day care and community centres around the country, to ensure that more older people are more active, more often.
There are many different elements to the Go for Life programme.
1. Is your group or organisation interested in getting started with a programme of physical activity? Then check out the Go for Life presentations, which outline the benefits of an active lifestyle for older people and show participants simple activities, which can be done alone at home or with friends or family.
2. Are you an individual, who is interested in becoming more physically active? The activity challenges may be just the thing for you!
3. Looking for funding to support a physical activity programme or to buy some sports equipment for your older people's organisation. Read about the National Grant Scheme for Older People.
4. Looking for someone to lead a physical activity programme in an older people's organisation? Older people become leaders themselves by attending the Go for Life Physical Activity Leaders (PALs) workshops. SDCSP/ HSE hold PALs workshops each year. If you or someone from your group would like to be included please let us know.
